Why make handmade soap?

Handmade soap contains Glycerin, a natural emollient that will give you a very mild bar. It is used to make many beauty products and cosmetic creams.  Glycerin is generally removed from store-bought soap.

In most cases, what you find in the stores as “soap” is actually detergent, which is made with synthetic ingredients that can be  very harsh on skin.

One of the biggest advantages is that you can tailor a soap recipe to your specific skin needs. You can select the ingredients, using all natural oil and butter and choosing scents and colours pleasing to you. Some people with very sensitive skin can be allergic to dye and synthetic fragrances and handmade soap is the perfect solution. You can create a unique bar with a fantastic scent and an interesting texture just by using essential oils and herbs, dry lemon peels, clays, and other additives.

There are so many natural ingredients available to integrate into your basic blend of oils. Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Goat Milk, Jojoba Oil, and Macadamia Butter are just a few!

You can select only vegetable fats, if you prefer, leaving out tallow and lard and, more good news, no animal testing as well!

Your first attempts will be tested on family and friends, of course, but that’s another story.

The recipes described in this website contain only high-quality vegetable oils and butters, botanical extracts, and therapeutic essential oils.

NO COLORANTS or SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES are used.

The soap is made in small batches for the best quality using the COLD PROCESS METHOD.

Lightly scented with ESSENTIAL OILS, this hand-crafted soap is a treat for you, family, and friends.
